In the event that the district needs to modify the normal operations, the district will notify all stakeholders by 12:00 pm. The administration is asking that all parents monitor their communication from the district throughout the day. Out of an abundance of caution, the School Board Work Session scheduled for today has been canceled.

Hello Cougar Family, The HWH School District is providing support to all of our impacted scholars and their families due to the water crisis. We understand the unprecedented hardship that this situation has caused and the impact on student attendance. The district was able to provide a time period of flexibility that allowed absences to be excused; but beginning Monday February 5, 2024, the district must return to recording absences per board policy 4.7 which defines excused and unexcused absences. The district understands that there may be times that some students may miss due to unique circumstances. The administration will work with those families on a case by case basis. Good Afternoon Cougar Nation, In response to the ongoing water crisis, the Helena-West Helena School District will be distributing water to impacted School Community Members. On Friday, February 2, 2024, during dismissal (Central-2:45 p.m. & J.F. Wahl-3:15 p.m.), affected community members can receive water assistance and a care package without leaving their vehicles. To assist residents, we have established opportunities for school community members to use the showers in the indoor football facility at Central High School and the laundry room in the uphill area at Central High School. For those with confirmed time slots, we will provide laundry pods, bleach, and dryer sheets if needed. The HWHSD administration is aware of the current water situation that is impacting the families in West Helena, Arkansas. The district is collaborating with the city and community on how to provide support to the impacted families. Although the district prefers that all students be on-site for instruction. The district understands that some students may miss due to the impact of the water outage. All students who miss school due to the outage will receive an excused absence. The district is waiving the uniform policy until further notice. Students must adhere to the dress code policy that's stated in the HWHSD Student Hand Book As the Helena-West Helena School District, we want to keep you informed about the ongoing developments within our community. Currently, we are working closely with city leadership to ensure that we receive real-time updates on any changes that may impact our stakeholders. Greetings Cougar Family, HWHSD school will be OPEN Monday, January 22,2024 on a two (2) hours delay. The buses will start their routes beginning at 9:00 a.m. Classes at Central High School will start at 9:45 a.m. and classes at J. F. Wahl Elementary School will start at 10:00 a.m. If anyone needs further assistance on the tomorrow opening, you may contact the appropriate principal. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Greetings Cougar Family J.F. Wahl Elementary will return to normal operations tomorrow Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Hello Cougar Family, The HWH School District is experiencing a power outage at JF Wahl Elementary Campus. At approximately 9:30 a tree fell causing the outage. The Superintendent has been in contact with Entergy and power will not be restored for 2-3 hours. Therefore, JF Wahl Elementary will dismiss early at 11:45. Bus Riders must have an adult at home to receive the student or the student will be returned to campus. Car Riders may begin picking up your student at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause but thank you for your cooperation. If you have any further questions, please contact the building administrator.

Dr. McGee is excited to partner with community volunteers as part of "Moving the Needle in Reading with Dr. McGee" to promote literacy skills, reading comprehension, and a love for reading with kindergarten - second grade students. Greetings Cougar Family Due to unfortunate circumstances, we will be running double routes for bus 76. Bus 60 will pickup high school students as well as bus 76 students. Bus 61 will pick up elementary students first and then return for bus 76 elementary students. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
