Middle College Academy

Dear Central High Families,

I would like to share an important opportunity available to students at Central High School. Through a strong partnership with the University of Arkansas Phillips Community College (PCCUA), the Helena-West Helena School District offers two academies designed to prepare students for success in college, career, and life.

The Middle College Academy (MCA) and the Workforce Training Academy (WTA) are offered at no cost to students or families and reflect our district’s commitment to expanding opportunities for every learner.

Middle College Academy

Students who enroll in MCA can earn a Central High School diploma and an associate degree at the same time. While still in high school, students take college-level courses and can graduate with up to two years of college already completed. This head start provides an advantage for university admissions, scholarship opportunities, and entry into high-demand career fields.

Workforce Training Academy

WTA prepares students to graduate career-ready with industry-recognized credentials. Through hands-on learning, students can earn Certificates of Proficiency in high-demand fields. These credentials equip students with real-world skills that lead directly to employment or further training after graduation.

These academies allow Central High School students to choose the path that best fits their goals—a college degree, workforce training, or a combination of both—while reducing barriers to high-quality education and strengthening our local workforce.

Enrollment

Enrollment will take place during spring pre-registration. For more information or to discuss which pathway may be the best fit for your student, please contact school counselor Ms. Gant.

We look forward to partnering with you as we help every student build a successful future.

Sincerely,

Xavier M. Hodo, Sr., Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
