Memorial Day: May 25 2026.

Dear HWHSD Community,

As we observe Memorial Day, I want to take a moment to honor the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the freedoms we share and the responsibility we have to care for one another, serve our communities, and uphold the values that bring us together.

Memorial Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance. Across the Helena-West Helena School District, we are fortunate to be part of a community that understands the importance of service and respect. These values are reflected in the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the strength and promise of our students. Together, you help create a school community where students are encouraged to learn, lead, and contribute in meaningful ways.

As we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we also extend our gratitude to the veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and loved ones in our community who carry forward a legacy of courage and commitment. Their example offers an important reminder to our students about the meaning of service, citizenship, and shared responsibility.

On behalf of HWHSD, thank you for your continued trust and partnership. I wish you and your family a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

Sincerely,

Xavier M. Hodo, Sr.
